The National Association of State Foresters’ Executive Director Jay Farrell has accepted the USDA Forest Service Chief’s Award on behalf of the association for its work in support of the Pandemic Assistance for Timber Harvesters and Haulers (PATHH) program. This USDA program provided $200 million to timber harvesting and timber hauling businesses that experienced losses due to COVID-19 and the expansive market access issues the pandemic imposed worldwide. NASF is proud to have partnered with the USDA Forest Service and Farm Service Agency, as well as industry groups like the Forest Resources Association and the American Loggers Council, to ensure America’s loggers and log haulers received the critical relief they needed when they needed it most. “Professional loggers and timber haulers are essential to forest management in the United States. State foresters were proud to support delivering a historic level of economic relief to these hard-working professionals in response to a historic pandemic. The PATHH program is an outstanding example of how federal, state, and private sector partnerships should work to benefit the nation,” said Jay Farrell.
