NANAIMO, British Columbia , May 3, 2023 (press release) –

Mosaic Forest Management announced today that it has renewed its access agreement with the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club (NMBC). The agreement grants a five-year extension to the partnership that began in 2017, giving access to mountain bike trails in Nanaimo’s Doumont trail network, which runs through Mosaic’s private land base.

“Our partnership with the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club is exemplary among the access agreements we hold with local organizations and clubs,” said Molly Hudson, Director of Sustainability at Mosaic Forest Management. “Access agreements are successful when our partners share our commitments to public safety and environmental values on the land base, and the NMBC demonstrates those commitments without fail.”

The Doumont trail network consists of 63 trails covering an area of nearly 48 kilometres. It offers world-class mountain biking and is a recreational hub for hikers, dog walkers, and cyclists alike. Through its access agreement with Mosaic, the NMBC sets trail etiquette and maintenance standards, and organizes sanctioned mountain bike races. The NMBC’s Public Trail Days are popular events that invite volunteers to help maintain and improve the Doumont trail experience.

“Since our inception in 2000, our club has been dedicated to building and maintaining trails, and to organizing races, community days, and weekly group rides to foster an engaged and diverse mountain bike community,” said Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club’s President, Morgan Deno. “Our partnership with Mosaic is key to our ability to deliver on that mandate and ensure long-term access for mountain biking in Nanaimo.”
