Kellanova was founded more than 100 years ago with core values that guide the way we work with our business partners, within our communities, and with each other. Giving back is part of our DNA. Almost as long as we’ve been in business, we’ve been partnering with United Way, a key partner for our Better Days Promise, to help address sustainable and equitable access to food. Every year, we’re proud to run United for #BetterDays, our annual giving campaign supported by our employees in the U.S. Through United Way, these donations fund local programming that benefits food banks, community feeding initiatives, and other efforts that provide basic needs. Stephanie Slingerland, our Chief Philanthropy Officer, and Ben Schorr, Associate Director, Social Impact, recently visited three United Way partner organizations to see firsthand the impact that each makes on the people in their communities. Follow us on their journey across Michigan and Illinois: First Stop: Growing Home Growing Home is an urban farm, workforce development center and non-profit social enterprise in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. They provide their community with paid innovative employment training and local, healthy, affordable food. SHARE Center, a funded partner of United Way, provides a mutually supportive, safe space with resources for the recovery of vulnerable people who are experiencing issues with homelessness, mental health, hunger, or addiction. Community Food Club is a non-profit, member-based grocery store. It provides an innovative and dignified approach to food security rooted in consumer choice, member participation, and access to healthy foods.
