Wales-based Chevler launches a new, improved range of Meat Saver Papers in peach, white, green and black; Meat Saver Papers preserve meat by retaining its color and moisture, hide extra juice that run out of meat

July 16, 2024 (press release) –

In response to customer demand for more vibrant, brighter Meat Saver Paper colours, Chevler has launched a new, improved range of the product that has been considered a must-have by meat retailers and food processors for many decades.

The Welsh-based company has spent the past six months working with a specialist paper mill to perfect a grade which ensures users continue to benefit from all the traditional qualities of the best performing meat paper on the market but in brighter colours.

"The pulp, processing and chemistry have all been specifically developed to achieve this," explained Chevler's director of sales and marketing Garry Parker.

He went on: "One of the main aims of the project was to improve the vibrancy of the black paper which has become incredibly popular with butchers using it to line trays displaying red meat in their serve-overs. We are really excited by the new and improved product."

Outlining the benefits of Meat Saver Paper, he added: "It's renowned for helping preserve meat by retaining its colour and moisture. It enables butchers and meat retailers to save time, reduce waste, extend shelf life and retain customers. And perhaps, more importantly because it helps maintain the original weight of the meat it helps retailers increase profit."

As well as helping the meat keep its colour it hides the extra juices that run out of meat. Covering meat with Meat Saver Paper ensures the product stays fresher for longer meaning butchers do not have to trim off discoloured meat therefore saving time and money.

With its high tear and burst resistance Meat Saver Paper also prevents bones breaking though the wrap. Its ability to preserve meat for longer than similar products allows meat to be pre-cut at a convenient time ready for busier periods.

Packaging meat in Meat Saver Paper ensures it stays fresher for longer after leaving a shop or processing plant and the result is a satisfied customer. Its no tear properties are well-known and it’s strong enough to peel from the meat when wet without tearing.

The new, improved Meat Saver Paper is available in peach, white, green and black. Chevler also has the capability to produce a range of shapes and sizes including sheets, rolls, discs, crimped cases and shapes with scalloped edges. It is being introduced over the coming months.
