Italy-based Datatex will present its blockchain platform, Now 4.0 Textile ERP, at Techtextil Frankfurt on June 21-24, Textile Technology reported on May 16. The company’s blockchain technology tracks, traces, and verifies products across the textile and apparel supply chains, from fibers to finished products. Datatex is currently seeking partners in the textile and apparel industries to help integrate its platform into global supply chains. According to Textile Technology, the “Made in Italy” fashion sector lost €5.2 billion in 2020 from unauthorized sales of inauthentic products. A 2022 study from IBM, the National Retail Federation, NRF, and Lenzing found 77% of consumers wanted more sustainable products, and 57% would alter their buying habits to protect the environment.
