Under the theme: ‘Your Global Partner,’ Sun Chemical will present its leading polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) portfolio and world benchmark colour solutions to the plastics industry at K 2022 (19-26 October 2022, Messe Dusseldorf) on stand A53, Hall 8B.

Pigments

The Color Materials division of Sun Chemical will showcase a range of technologies in applications and product innovations that aim to meet the increasing sustainability and performance demands of the plastics industry.

On the stand, Sun Chemical will be launching Microlen® Blue 7460 ECO, a sustainable end-of-life solution for compostable plastics. Blue and green options are particularly limited when it comes to meeting regulations requirements such as EN 13432. Microlen® Blue 7460 ECO is a new solution that significantly extends the workable colour space for compostable plastics.

Sun Chemical will also be presenting its colour solutions for mechanical recycling, including:

  • Sicopal® Black K 0098 FK. This highly sustainable alternative to carbon black, enables the plastics recycling industry to efficiently sort and re-process plastic waste. As Sicopal® Black K 0098 FK is extremely heat stable and widely supported for food contact uses, including microwave and oven applications, it can substitute carbon black in all formulations and uses. It is available in mono-pigment preparations forms as well. Microlen® Black 0098 MP and Eupolen® PE Black 00-9805 will also be introduced as they provide non-dusting and free flowing in optimally dispersed pigment. These properties improve processability and provide an economic benefit to customers.
  • Paliotol® Yellow K 1839 FP. This color solution supports the trend towards sustainable fibres and textiles colouration and provides more design options thanks to its higher colour strength and chroma. It will soon complement Sun Chemical’s broad range of colours for fibers, including products certified with ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®.

For the most demanding production processes and engineering polymers, Sun Chemical offers pigments with outstanding heat resistance, durability and chemical stability. In the orange or red colour space, innovative inorganic pigments such as Sicopal® Orange K 2430 or Sicopal® Red K 3050 FK meet the performance requirements for PA6 or PPS for automotive and e-mobility. These products combined with shading partners can run the “Xtra Mile” in the target colour space, standing up to the most demanding needs.

Finally, Sun Chemical will be showcasing new, dazzling formulations for special effect pigments for automotive exteriors that can provide a high sparkle and durable look, using cutting-edge digitalisation software – Appearance Exchange Format (AxF™) files.  Learn more at https://www.colors-effects.com/market-segment/plastics/.
