Luvian Saha invests in FB-continuous kiln from Valutec, modernizes three existing kilns; project commissioning set for fall 2025 at Finland sawmill

February 11, 2025 (press release) –

To increase its drying capacity Finish sawmill Luvian Saha Oy is investing in one FB-continuous kiln and modernization of three older continuous kilns from Swedish Valutec. The delivery further includes the Valutec’s control system “Valmatics 4.0” for the four continuous kilns.

The long-standing cooperation between Luvian Saha and Valutec facilitated the choice of supplier for Luvian.

"Numerous joint projects and the experiences gained from them have shown that Valutec is a reliable and precise partner in implementing growth and development projects related to the drying process. We look forward to the success of this new project in line with our shared goals," says Veli-Matti Puuska, CEO of Luvian Saha Oy.

Since 1976 Luvia has been known for their high quality spruce and pine products. Products manufactured from strictly selected raw material, with various surface treatments, delivered to five different continents.

"Our cooperation with Luvian Saha Oy has been fruitful and long-standing. We are proud to continue this tradition with a new project that brings new opportunities to improve drying quality and increase the level of automation in the kilns," says Eric Johansson, Marketing Manager at Valutec.

"The quality of our project management and products has always been a key factor in our success. This new project is no exception, and we are committed to ensuring that it is carried out to the highest standards," adds Johansson.

The new generation of continuous kilns combines its high capacity and operational economics with a drying quality comparable to batch kilns. As the world’s biggest supplier of continuous kilns, Valutec is heavily involved in the trend for the increasing use of this drying technology.

The project will start at the Luvia sawmill in early summer 2025 with commissioning in the fall of 2025.
