Supreme Administrative Court rejects Finnpulp's application for annulment of the court's negative environmental permit decision issued in 2019; decision concerns a planned bioproduct mill project in Kuopio, Finland, which company says is now closed

HELSINKI , January 25, 2022 (press release) –

The Supreme Administrative Court has today issued a decision rejecting Finnpulp Oy’s application for annulment of a negative environmental permit decision issued by the Supreme Administrative Court in 2019.

“As for the mill project according to our application, the matter is now closed. We will take a closer look at the decision, and we have nothing else to comment at this point”, says CEO Martti Fredrikson.

The decision of the Supreme Administrative Court is related to the application for annulment by Finnpulp Oy, which is planning a bioproduct mill project in Sorsasalo, Kuopio, which Finnpulp submitted to the Supreme Administrative Court on 25 May 2021. Finnpulp demanded that the negative decision made on 19th of December, 2019 on the environmental permit for the mill project be revoked and that the environmental permit be issued immediately, mainly under permit conditions approved by the Supreme Administrative Court, or at least reconsidered.
