L’Oréal Ranked for 5th Time by Equileap Among World's Most Gender Equitable Companies

For the 5th year in a row, L’Oréal is among the top 20 most gender-balanced companies of the world in Equileap's Global Gender Equality Ranking. The research examined 3,895 companies, representing 102 million employees globally, on gender equality across 23 countries based on 19 in-depth criteria. This year, L’Oréal will once again be No. 1 in France (tied with Danone), and in the Top 20 worldwide.

L’Oréal, a pioneer in gender equity

We are committed to achieve gender equity at all levels and functions of the company; contribute to the establishment of more inclusive environments in favor of the LGBTQIA+ community everywhere in the world; engage against any type of harassment or violence, particularly sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

“We are proud to be recognized by Equileap for the fifth year in a row as first in France and in the top 20 worldwide in terms of gender equity. Our longstanding commitment to DE&I is key to our extrafinancial performance and how we create the beauty that moves the world. We count on partners like Equileap to measure our commitment in order to ensure continued improvement.”

As of end 2021, women represent:

69% of global workforce

50% of Board members

32% of Executive Commitee members

55% of Leadership positions

59% of Global Brand General Managers

49% of expatriates

66% of promotions

“Our fifth annual report shows continued progress towards gender equality with painfully slow but steady improvement. Despite Covid gradual progress has been maintained every year across most metrics evaluated…However, there is no room for complacency. The past five years have seen #MeToo, Women’s Marches in over 80 countries, even the first all-woman spacewalk and yet, globally, only 19 firms have managed to close their pay gap and only 18 have achieved gender balance at all levels…It's time for companies, investors and governments to step up to the plate.”
Diana van Maasdijk, CEO at Equileap

Recent initiatives driving gender equity at L’Oréal

- 2020: In line with the discussions with the ILO and the adoption of the first international convention against violence and harassment in the workplace, L’Oréal showed its commitment by creating a dedicated HR policy on domestic violence in 2020. The global deployment of this policy is underway with strong ambitions for 2022.
