The Estée Lauder Companies is proud to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of its Travel Retail division

This year, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) is proud to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of its Travel Retail (TR) division. Since its founding in 1992, ELC TR has become one of the company’s leading growth channels, covering the world of duty-free environments, including airports, airlines, cruises, downtown locations, and border shops. ELC TR’s vision is to be the prestige beauty leader for the traveling consumer, inspiring the next generation of travelers with transformative products and high-touch experiences across our diverse brand portfolio.

From its humble beginnings, ELC TR now touches approximately 150 countries and territories around the world, inspiring and introducing travelers from all cultures to ELC’s portfolio of prestige brands and products. The TR channel is also dedicated to the company’s commitment to its consumers, communities, and the world we live in. In line with this, the channel announced TR-specific sustainability goals in 2021, furthering ELC’s commitment to the environment and demonstrating to travelers how our business and our brands are making a positive impact in this space. In FY’22, ELC TR also donated to initiatives and programs centered on health, the environment, education, and Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (ID&E), which it plans to match in the near and far future.

Israel Assa, Global President, Travel Retail

“We are proud of our strong legacy throughout our 30-year history and are excited for the opportunities that await as the travel industry rebounds,” said Israel Assa, Global President, Travel Retail, ELC. “Accustomed to volatility in our dynamic industry, our teams have continued to lead, diversifying our brand offerings and driving innovation across brick and mortar, in-store digital, social, and omnichannel experiences to push the boundaries and innovate the retail experience, helping make memories with travelers for years to come. As we look to our bright future, we will continue to be a leader in Travel Retail, making greater impact on our environmental commitments and supporting our diverse consumer base and the communities where we operate.”

In addition to this year marking the thirtieth anniversary of ELC’s TR division, it is also the thirtieth anniversary of ELC’s Breast Cancer Campaign (BCC). To honor these two important milestones in our company’s history, ELC TR is proud to announce its $250,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). This grant sponsors research exploring emerging disparities in breast cancer among Asian-American communities led by Dr. Scarlett Gomez, PhD, MPH, a Professor and Vice Chair at The University of California, San Francisco, to ultimately support the BCC’s mission to help create a breast cancer-free world for all.

Activation at Tax Free World Association

Each year in early October, the travel retail industry convenes at the annual Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Exhibition and Conference in Cannes, France. To honor ELC TR’s and the BCC’s thirtieth anniversaries at the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ELC TR lit the city of Cannes in pink and adorned the outside of the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes with this year’s thirtieth anniversary BCC imagery.

Additionally, in acknowledgment of this milestone for the company's TR division, ELC is pleased to shared a special e-zine edition of The Moodle Davitt Report, which features a 30-year timeline of the channel's history and several pages of editorial content, imagery, and storytelling.

Engaging Travel Retail Employees Around the Globe

ELC’s TR division has a global team made up of leaders across brands, regions, and functions. From skin care, makeup, and fragrance to finance, value chain, store design, and visual merchandising, we have product marketers and digital experts, as well as innovators who create experiences in store and online, all working together to bring the best to every traveler we touch. To engage its employee base on this incredible thirtieth anniversary milestone, ELC TR will convene employees in a global Town Hall and deploy an employee call to action in recognition of our incredible 30-year history.

“Without our incredible employees around the globe, we could not be where we are today. Thank you to our talented employees and teams—past, present, and future—for leading with our company values and bringing value to the traveling consumer in all that you do, day in and day out. Together, we will drive the next generation of growth, creating the next chapter of our legacy,” said Assa.
