Arizona's Coconino National Forest to host second round of public meetings on draft forest plan and environmental impact statement; discussion topics include wildlife and water resources, wilderness and special areas

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona , February 19, 2014 (press release) – Coconino National Forest will host a second round of public meetings next week to address focus topics raised during last month’s public meetings regarding the recently released draft forest plan and accompanying Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).

Meetings are scheduled for the following times and locations:

• Feb. 24, 3 - 7 p.m. – Flagstaff Aquaplex
1702 N. Fourth St., Flagstaff, AZ 86004
Meeting Description: Focus Topic/Comment Workshop

• Feb. 25, 3 - 7 p.m. – Sedona Airport
235 Air Terminal Drive, Sedona, AZ 86336
Meeting Description: Focus Topic/Comment Workshop

• Feb. 26, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. – Mogollon Rim Ranger District
Blue Ridge Ranger Station, 8738 Ranger Road, Happy Jack, AZ 86024
Meeting Description: Open Office Hours/Walk-In

Meetings in Flagstaff and Sedona will be group discussion/workshop style and will be divided into three separate sessions over the course of the evening, with two simultaneous “tracks” taking place during each session to give participants a choice of focus topics to discuss.

Focus topics will be addressed as follows:

Track 3 - 4:30 p.m. 4:30 - 6 p.m. 6 - 7 p.m. 
1 Dispersed Recreation Motorized Recreation Permitted Uses 
2 Wildlife & Water Resources Wilderness & Special Areas Open Q&A 

Participants are welcome to attend all three sessions and may move freely between tracks. Additionally, a commenting station will be available for participants to make electronic or hardcopy comments in-person.

For those unable to attend one of these meetings or who would like to have a one-on-one discussion with a plan revision team member, open office hours will be held at the Mogollon Rim Ranger District on Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Electronic copies of the draft forest plan and DEIS are available online at http://go.usa.gov/jHnY. Hardcopies and CDs are available at Forest Service offices in Flagstaff, Sedona and Happy Jack (Blue Ridge Ranger Station). The public in invited to review the documents and provide comments during the 90-day comment period which ends March 20.
