Kentwood Office Furniture (KOF) of Michigan acquired Grand Rapids work surfaces supplier Brys Industries in late December, MLive reported on Jan. 10.
Although the company distributes new office furniture for several well-known manufacturers, KOF’s largest footprint in the furniture market is the purchase of used furniture at a discount for resale.
With the acquisition of Brys Industries, to be renamed KOF Wood Solutions, the company has added the manufacture and sale of laminate work surfaces and similar products to its business.
CEO Art Hasse believes the acquisition will give KOF more flexibility in meeting customer requests, adding that the expansion could add more jobs to the employee-owned company and increase benefits for its more than 100 current employees.
