LOS ANGELES , May 28, 2012 () – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said that pesticide residues are not a safety issue after testing 12,845 samples of fresh produce and other foods, Food Safety News reported May 28.

The USDA concluded that, just like prior years, foods generally tested far below Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tolerance levels.

According to the USDA report, only 0.25% of food samples tested had levels above EPA tolerances.
