South Korea's KP Chemical restarts its 600,000-tonne/year capacity PTA line Dec. 7 after power failure; operational rate about 80%-90%

LOS ANGELES , December 8, 2011 () – South Korea-based KP Chemical restarted its number No. 3 purified terephthalic acid line Dec. 7 following a suspension of operations due to a power failure, Platts reported Dec. 7, citing a company source.

Platts noted that the PTA line has a capacity of 600,000 tonnes per year. KP's No. 2 PTA line, which has a capacity of 350,000 tonnes/year, was not affected by the outage.

Operational rates for both lines are about 80%-90%, Platts reported.
