PepsiCo's Brazilian unit agrees to buy cookie maker Mabel for 800 million to 900 million reais, sources say

LOS ANGELES , November 2, 2011 () – According to a newspaper article in O Estrado de S. Paulo, PepsiCo Inc.’s Brazilian unit has agreed to buy cookie maker Mabel for at least 800 million reais (US$458 million), Bloomberg reported Nov. 2.

According to people close to the negotiations, the deal could be worth as much as 900 million reais.

PepsiCo refused to comment, according to the article.
