Weyerhaeuser, a leading forest products company, has awarded AT&T* with the 2012 IT Supplier of the Year award. AT&T is currently the primary wireless service provider for Weyerhaeuser and was recognized for its innovative products, quality of delivery, relationship management and cost effectiveness.
Throughout the course of the ten year relationship, Weyerhaeuser has:
Implemented an array of AT&T devices to streamline operations and help workers in the field, including smartphones, tablets and modem cards.
Relied on the AT&T network to power multiple applications, such as a construction application for their home builders business unit; a safety and audit application for their wood products group; and an automatic vehicle location (AVL) application for their fleet.
WebTech Wireless™ Quadrant™ – AVL Application
For a company in the business of growing and transporting logs to build homes and other forest products, efficient fleet management is key. Weyerhaeuser has implemented WebTech Wireless™ Quadrant™ from AT&T to help with its timberlands fleet operations. The solution consists of wireless GPS hardware and software services that offer features like mapping, vehicle maintenance, driver status, and in-vehicle navigation.
This AVL application gives dispatchers and trucking managers a real-time view at where their fleet is at any given time. As a result, customers are able to spot bottlenecks early on at locations where there are either too many or not enough trucks to keep the product moving smoothly. Managers are also able to transmit, collect and analyze important data to help identify where underperforming assets are, and therefore adjust accordingly. Because of these tracking and performance measurements, customers see a significant cost savings by cutting wait times in problem areas by as much as 50%.
