Industry Intelligence to host webinar April 26 with Christine Burow, co-chair of The Sustainability Consortium's Paper Sector, on setting up a Life Cycle Assessment, an effective tool for sustainability accounting

LOS ANGELES, April 18, 2012 (press release) – On April 26 in a free webinar hosted by i2live of Industry Intelligence, Christine Burow will walk participants through the steps needed to commission an LCA analysis or to interpret an LCA report. This event Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD): Benefits and challenges is open for registration now at the i2live website, www.i2live.net.

With industries worldwide increasingly focusing their efforts on achieving environmental, social, and economic sustainability, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is becoming accepted as an effective sustainability accounting tool. Using LCA, a company is able to measure the consequences of a product from raw material extraction to manufacturing, packaging, distribution, use and end of life.

The advantages of LCA stem from its comprehensiveness; it is a sophisticated analysis tool and to be used effectively the user must be well versed with the methodology.

During the webinar, Ms. Burow, who worked with PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Forest Products Association of Canada on “Life Cycle Assessment and Forest Products: A White Paper” will discuss the four fundamental steps of setting up a LCA: goal and scope definition; inventory analysis; impact assessment and interpretation. Attendees at the webinar can expect to come away with a clear understanding of some of the primary reasons for conducting an LCA, which include driving performance improvement, effective marketing communications, meeting stakeholders’ expectations, complying with and anticipating legislative requirements and understanding the limitations of LCA.

This webinar is relevant to manufacturing sectors, including industries specializing in wood, pulp, paper and packaging. Space is limited; please sign up now.
