The multi-functional, eco-friendly GreenBox from Ecovention LLC is made from 100% recycled material and breaks down into plates while the bottom folds into a storage container. The innovative box eliminates consumer need for disposable plates, plastic wrap and aluminum foil for leftovers and allows for easy recycling.

Self-heating can receives vibrant shelf-presence
Sheffield Hallam University’s in-house design consultancy Design Futures provided the rebrand for innovative self-heating canned food product HOTCAN produced by Heat Food & Drink Ltd. The food manufacturer wanted a distinct identity to give the 30 year-old innovation a boost in customer sales. Design Futures created a stand-out white can with quirky informal titles and vibrant font. Since HOTCAN’s customers also include emergency services, the consultancy designed an additional camouflaged version for when strong visibility would be a disadvantage.

Smirnoff's twisting limited edition packs channel public expression
Smirnoff Australia launched two new limited edition paperboard packs designed by Australian artists Nanami Cowdroy and Beastman (Brad Eastman) that will be displayed for transformation into a third design. The two artists’ pieces, of which depict an interpretation of Smirnoff’s concept of ‘purity’, are set on a ‘twisting’ paperboard box and will be set on display at Smirnoff’s Start Pure Gallery in Sydney’s Surry Hills. Viewers will be able to create their own inspired works and Smirnoff will set the pieces together for the third 3D limited-edition pack design.

Milk carton concept aims for 100% organic packaging
The Organic Valley milk carton concept comes from a team of students from The Portfolio Center design school in Atlanta, Georgia. With aseptic, 100% recyclable Tetra Pak maintaining the quality of the product on the inside, a layer of uncoated, untreated paper is applied to the outside of the carton for an earthy and organic aesthetic. The size, milk-bottle shape and indented neck of the carton are designed for easy handling along with an easy to open twist-off cap. The cartons are also color coded with soy-based inks to identify different types of milk.

All-natural pear juice emphasizes purity with fruit-shaped bottles
Pére is a 100% all-natural pear juice product. The packaging, designed by Craig Pinto, follows the organic shape of the pear and features a logo symbolizing the process of the fruit’s conversion into juice.

Small batch distiller takes nostalgic inspiration for hand-made spirits
Boston-based Bully Boy Distillers is a family-run distillery producing small batch vodka, rum and whiskey. The owners, brothers Will and Dave Willis, opted for packaging inspired by prohibition-era bottles found within a local farmhouse basement. The heavy glass bottle and classic logos created by Cheree Berry Design emulate an era when spirits were produced by hand, an element the brothers said was important for their brand.
