China Bezene China’s benzene prices on April 29 decreased, following the trend in downstream styrene monomer. At closing on Monday, April 29, benzene prices stood at 8,745 yuan/tonne, a decrease of 160 yuan/tonne from the previous Friday. Refineries in China have entered their maintenance season, taking out significant benzene production. However, total demand volume in May is expected to increase by about 130,000 tons compared to April. Upward pricing movements for benzene are expected to be limited in the near future, particularly with some capacity outages returning to production in June. China CPL Polymers Domestic prices of CPL continued to decrease in the final half of April, despite ongoing maintenance-related capacity outages, according to CCF Group. An outage by Lunan Chemical will have further impact on CPL availability in May, when consumption is foreseen being higher than in April. US Chemical rail traffic US chemical railcar traffic for the month of April increased 2.9%, equivalent to 3,686 carloads, according to the Association of American Railroads. Petroleum and petroleum products increased 13.8%, or 4,967 carloads. During the week ended on April 27, chemicals was among seven of the 10 commodity groups that registered a year-over-year increase.
